| Editorial Reviews:
Product Description Fried Calamari is a story about two people on a first date. Both characters struggle with their respective insecurities as they attempt to put their best face forward. In the beginning, they struggle with how much they should disclose on a first date without making themselves too vulnerable. However, as the evening progresses, they engage in a battle of one upmanship. Yet, the more they reveal, the closer they become. Along the way is an often candid and comedic discussion of the differences between men and women.

Insightfully Insightful! October 26, 2002 4 out of 22 found this review helpful
This book was extremely insightful. The most insightful part was chapter 5, the insightful insight. The book is insightyfully insightful withmany insightful sightings. The insightful cover makes leonardo di vinci's insightfulness look as non-insightful as a non-insightful illustrator.
Very Entertaining September 24, 2002 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
I loved this wonderfully written and very humorous look at modern dating. The all-dialogue format really works to make the reader feel like she is sitting at the next table. The characters are all too human and you can really relate to their struggles to make the evening work. What I really liked is that the book really rings true and is highly insightful without failing into typical stereotypes. Most of all, it's just really fun reading.
A delight!!! April 4, 2002 3 out of 5 found this review helpful
This book is a masterpiece. The best romance novel I've ever read. The best book comparing sexes since Men Are From Mars, Women Are From Venus. A good combination between a should-be world-selling novel and an article from an issue of Playboy. This is a must-read book.
A Delicious Treat February 1, 2002 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
Fried Calamari is a delicious treat that unfolds the story of a first date in an all-dialogue format. I read this book twice. The first time purely for entertainment and on the second read, I tried to pick up all of the insights in the underlying subtext. On both accounts, this book came out a winner.
