Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
Kosher cuisine is a culinary niche that is rapidly becoming mainstream, as many home cooks outside the Jewish community, seeking more healthful and humane fare, are embracing kosher foods and Jewish dietary laws. Now, Hip Kosher provides detailed, practical resources for finding kosher items in your local stores and more than 175 recipes for every meal and occasion, showcasing contemporary American dishes rather than traditional Eastern European or Sephardic fare. Accessible, easy-to-prepare, and versatile, the recipes are perfect for busy people who don’t have hours to spend in the kitchen. Many recipes include menu suggestions, while sidebars note recipe variations, updates on classics, and helpful prep hints about ingredients and tools. Fein also describes Jewish dietary laws (and halal, permitted Muslim foods) and provides comprehensive sources.

Reading, collecting and cooking from kosher cookbooks are hobbies of mine and I have been very impressed with this book. It is full of fresh ideas that represent the way modern kosher cooks would like to cook. I am eagerly awaiting the sequel!

5 out of 5 stars Cook Book   October 25, 2008
The title of the book is misleading. These are kosher recipes that happen to be good - I don't know what hip is supposed to mean to the cook book audience.

5 out of 5 stars Great addition to any kitchen!!   June 18, 2008

I was amazed at how many ways Ms. Fein has figured out how to make kosher food fun! The cover caught my eye, I wasn't even looking for a new cookbook. But boy am I glad I stopped and picked it up.
I don't know where to begin, all the recipes look so fabulous!
Love the creativity and the user friendly design of the book.
Thanks so much!!

5 out of 5 stars Turkey Couscous Salad   May 24, 2008

Ms. Fine's new book is perfect for those of us who are not born cooks. Her tips and sidebars give excellent advice and make the recipes easy to execute. My favorite so far is Turkey Couscous Salad for which I used chicken that I had on hand. It is simple and delicious, not like anything I have prepared before. Ms. Fine also suggests other ingredients that would work in this dish; I will experiment with these. A wonderful recipe for lunch or supper on a warm summer's day.

5 out of 5 stars The Hippest Kosher Cookbook!   May 12, 2008

This book is a winner. The recipes are simple, modern, and focused on fresh fruits, vegetables, healthy entrees. It arrived on Wednesday and by the following Sunday, I had experimented with six different recipes ranging from terrific side dishes to salmon to dessert. All were winners and I'll make them all again. This cookbook IS hip and you don't have to be kosher to enjoy it.
