The Baby Bistro Cookbook
Healthy, Delicious Cuisine for Babies, Toddlers, and You
You no longer need to exclude your baby or toddler from a gourmet lifestyle! The Baby Bistro Cookbook shows you how easy it is to introduce your child to the experience of fine dining. This cookbook offers 150 delicious, foolproof recipes for children from their first bites through toddlerhood. From first foods such as simply prepared pureed fruits and vegetables to more complex meals of meats, sandwiches, snacks, and beverages, The Baby Bistro Cookbook will walk you through your child's nutritional and gustatory stages.
Most baby and toddler cookbooks contain outdated nutritional advice, lack menus for kids with special dietary needs, or offer unpalatable dishes that hold little appeal for your child. Joohee Muromcew was inspired to change those dismal options when she began to cook for her son. Armed with her expert culinary skills and her desire to create healthy, delicious foods with a sophisticated flair, she developed a cookbook that is without equal.
The Baby Bistro Cookbook is packed with 150 delicious, easy-to-follow upscale recipes, like Ratatouille and Fresh Mozzarella Omelet. Here are some other unique features that put this book in a class by itself.
* Substitutions for children with food allergies * Directions for preparing an entire week's supply of dishes that can be easily refrigerated or frozen * Pediatrician-approved information on adapting recipes to suit your child's age and tastes * Hints on what foods to pack when traveling with children * Recipes for special occasions
Teaching your child at an early age to appreciate and enjoy the same fresh, delicious meals you find so delectable is easy. Once you experience the simple pleasures of knowing that your young one is eating happily and healthfully, you'll never want to touch, or feed your baby, another jar of bland baby food again!

Great cookbook !! April 1, 2008 This is a great cookbook. I first bought this cookbook because I was trying to find different things to feed my son than the same things all the time. Plus, he is a little bit of a picky eater. What I love about this cookbook is that my husband and I enjoy the food just as much as my son does. Also, these meals a quick and easy. They don't call for a lot of ingredients and are delicious. And, I feel like the meals are nutritious for my family.
Great Cookbook and Great Shower Gift February 10, 2008 I bought this cookbook for myself about 4 years ago, when my oldest child was starting to (refuse to) eat solid food. It was great -- the suggestions for freezing baby food were practical and easy; and many of the recipes were so yummy, even for adults, that I didn't feel the need to cook two separate meals. Even though both my kids are past the beginning stages of eating now, I still make several of the recipes regularly, just because they're good. I've also given this book away as a baby shower gift several times, and it's been a hit every time.
Great book for cooking for little ones and the family December 13, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
While I agree with a couple of other reviewers that it's not really an infant cookbook and a few recipes do need tweaking, I generally feel it's a great book. It's nice to see recipes that actually call for spices and go beyond the traditional "American" toddler foods.
I have had no problem introducing my 11 and half month old to many of the recipes. Since we didn't start her until around 10 months on solids (she's still breastfeeding even now), she was ready to start with real foods very fast and barely even touched purees so the book is perfect for that and she just started getting egg whites today without a problem so I don't have to be as cautious with the recipes.
If you want to do infant purees then you're better with Super Baby Food or Annabel Karmel's books.
Good meals for my 13 month old October 29, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This book has good recipes for my 13 month old. I've mainly cooked the main dishes - beans and rice, chicken nuggets, Korean BBQ, cheesy chicken and brocolli. He likes them all. I haven't tried the breads yet, but those seem like good recipes with lower sugar than usual. Make sure you buy enough little containers to hold the leftovers for the freezer though I was thinking of trying ziploc baggies. I make labels on the printer with my son's name and recipe name (you could put date too) and put the labels right on the containers before they go into the freezer so I can pull them out and send straight to day care. It's worth the extra time to make his food so I know he's eating healthier than the food supplied (made by the local school, same as elementary lunches). I would like more vegetable recipes though. Great book, I'd definitely recommend it.
Mixed Bag, But I Use It Regularly June 17, 2007 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
THE BABY BISTRO COOKBOOK is not my favorite cookbook, but it is one that I have come back to again and again. When a very picky relative (meat and starch but no vegetables or spices) came to visit, THE BABY BISTRO COOKBOOK was perfect. If you have never considered cooking for your child, this is a great book to add to your shelf.
However, I could not get by with THE BABY BISTRO COOKBOOK as my only toddler cookbook. In my view, the strengths of THE BABY BISTRO COOKBOOK are in its treatment of some basics.
RECIPES WE LOVE: Baked Sweet Potato Sticks, Zucchini Coins, Vegetarian Black Beans and Rice, Korean Barbecue, Cheddar Chicken and Broccoli Casserole, Cornmeal Catfish (though we spice ours up more), Gingersnaps, Coconut Macaroons, Horchata
RECIPES WE LIKE: Apple Cider-Glazed Carrots, Risotto (though I had to add lots more liquid), No-Peanut Sesame Noodles, Shepherd's Pie, Curried Chicken, Salmon and Polenta (okay but have not liked it enough to repeat it)
NOT SO GREAT: Lemon and Rice Soup, Pumpkin Ravioli (will try this again)
RECIPES THAT DID NOT WORK FOR US AT ALL: Kiwi-Lime Agua Fresca (first recipe I tried, and it was wretched; there is no sweetener, so this is a very sour and tart drink); Steamed Japanese Egg Custard
NOTE ABOUT ALLERGIES: This is not a great cookbook if your child is sensitive to dairy or wheat. I was not able to do much with the book until my baby started to outgrow his dairy sensitivity.
ONE MORE NOTE: She recommends eating organic foods, but her cooking times seem to be based on white rice. If you are enough of a health nut to want brown rice, you'll need to make adjustments.
