| Editorial Reviews:
Product Description Schooled in serious art he may be, but Nick Wadley also has a full-bodied whimsical side, as proven here in Drunk with Pleasure. With pun in cheek and a deft, minimalist style of drawing, he gives readers a skewed but comprehensive overview of favorite vintages. Showing none of the arrogance so often associated with the wine crowd, Wadley pays homage to both the lowly and the exalted, like Chateau LaFeet. The intoxicating glossary at the back of this little gem is a handy reference for experts and neophytes alike. Nick Wadley headed the Department of Art History at the Chelsea School of Art in London for fifteen years. As an art historian, he has written chiefly about late-nineteenth-century painting and drawing. Wadley also writes about modern and contemporary art and has curated exhibitions and lectured in Europe, the United States, and Japan. Since the mid-nineties his drawings and cartoons have been appearing in catalogs, journals, and newspapers.

Sketchy yet wickedly humorous cartoons and visual puns August 9, 2004 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Drunk With Pleasure is a collection of simple, sketchy yet wickedly humorous cartoons and visual puns, all involving wine or alcohol. Drawn in a minimalist style with splashes of color, these chuckle-inducing single-panel scenes include a play on the phrase "Life is unfair!" as "Life is un verre!", i.e. a delicious drink. A glossary of wine terms to better contribute to understanding the cartoons rounds out this amusing collection especially recommended for giving wine connoisseurs a chuckle.
Very punny wine book December 27, 2003 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Nick Wadley, an artist who has written scholarly works about 19th century French art, turns to a tongue-in-cheek book celebrating wine. Through simple line drawings and a wonderful set of inventive wine name puns, the author captures the essence of wines through creative word play. He paints wine varieties such as "leap frog milk" to denote "liebfraumilch" and "Santa million" for a St. Emilion bordeaux. He uses fanciful drawings to depict word play like "Mary had a little lambrusco" and "Vin Gogh." There is a glossary "for those who like their puns explained." This little book will delight the oenophile with a sense of humor.
