Product Description
In the balkanized, bizarre, politically correct world of the future, sin has not yet been eradicated. Neither has murder... Private detective Jerico Drake is a tough guy. He's used to dealing with a world that has basically rejected goodness. With the nation now balkanized into white, black, and Hispanic sections, and the new breed of "genrich" (genetically sculptured) humans, technology has given evil a few more wrinkles. Drake's client, the young and lovely Lori Hallendorf, seems like a light in the midst of darkness.even though her life has been marred by tragedy. As Drake investigates her brother's murder, he discovers that he's been targeted by an unrelenting assassin-a robotic killer with a shocking kind of artificial intelligence. In a world of nanotechnology and genetic engineering, where fantasies are easily fullfilled but dreams turn to ashes, Drake must pursue a deadly trail that will show him both the worse, and the best, of humankind.

5 out of 5 stars First-rate sci-fi detective thriller, but also more   August 14, 2008
Very nicely done detective yarn set in a plausible near future -- something of a blend of Philip Marlowe and Philip K. Dick from a Christian perspective. But this is also a multilayered work. Jerico Drake is a conflicted detective hero in the best of that tradition, and the novel has an interesting and provocative take genetic engineering, imagining a world where some humans are "genrich," some are just "genplus" (so yesterday's technology) while the rest are, well, just ordinary. The brave new world of genetic discrimination. And then there are the android enforcers, both "good" and bad. A nice addition to the Christian bookshelf, but don't let the religious label dissuade you from reading this if you're not Christian or just not particularly religious.

5 out of 5 stars A great read!   May 19, 2008
Sci-fi is not my genre of choice, but suspense and romance are. This author blends the three in an exquisite story line that keeps the pages turning in close succession. The hero is flawed, but his flaws only emphasize his humanity. The heroine has flaws in a different direction, (think Elizabeth Bennett) but her flaws also emphasize her humanity in the midst of her "perfection."

Somehow, two flawed individuals combine, in a bizzare future of genetic engineering, to show us how the human spirit endures. There's edge-of-your-seat suspense, a very clever sci-fi concept of the future of genetic engineering, and, my favorite, a sweet love story. Interspersed with the action is an unapologetic theme of Biblical ethics and motives ... presented in a very realistic setting.

This story has something for everyone ... and if your mom asks to borrow it when you're finished ... you won't have to blush knowing that she knows what you've been reading! Very refreshing!!! (But ... encourage her to buy her own copy. I'd like to encourage this author to write more!)

5 out of 5 stars A Fast Paced Read   January 18, 2008
The author has a wry sense of humor and he keeps a lightning pace throughout. The story is an unusual combination of science fiction and mystery with an interesting twist of Christian values thrown in for good measure. It looks at how the ability to enhance humans genetically in the future might impact society and especially a murder investigation. It involves a private eye who is not "generich" and must go against those who are. This certainly would put him at a disadvantage in this technologically advanced society, but he has on his side good moral values, something almost lost in this future world.

This book is a fast paced read with some humor thrown in. I recommend it.

5 out of 5 stars A Chilling And Plausible Future   January 17, 2008
here is nothing better than a riveting story about titanic battles between the forces of good and evil. Throw in some social commentary, historic reflections, struggles of faith and conscience, a Brave New World of science gone mad, and a dash of romance. The result is a truer-than-fiction peek into a frightening future that is headed our way... Highlands (Sebring, Fla.) Today

5 out of 5 stars Great & exciting story!   January 6, 2008
This book really got me and kept me right there. It's a riveting, exciting story of the future. Great action, wonderful characters, good plot. A combination of C.S. Lewis and John D. MacDonald! It was a wonderful Christmas present to give also and a must read for everyone!
