Product Description A Romance With Baking, A Millennium Dedication to the American Flour Milling Industry is a lovely coffee table book filled with over 100 commemorative baking recipes, from breads to pastries, cheesecakes to pies. The book is laced throughout with beautiful food and old mill photography. It begins with the ancient and honorable craft of flour milling, from the earliest times to the present, while featuring the history, stories, poetry and lore, from others who share in the majesty and sentiment of wheat and bread and in the romance of baking. This book is a dedication to the grower of wheat, the miller, and the baker; a reflection and a long overdue recognition of the service and dedication of those people who bring us our daily bread. Come join me in a peek from the present into the romantic past. Come smell the bread baking.

Come smell the bread baking! August 27, 2000 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I have been producing and marketing books since 1985 and this is by far THE BEST cookbook that I have had the honor to review. Your book is filled with fabulous recipes, poems that touch your heart, wonderful pictures, the history behind the American Flour Milling Industry, and most importantly the feeling of love is felt on each and every page. A Romance with Baking July 24, 2000 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
When I have the time, I enjoy baking. I never use a mix and I like to make a variety of baked goods. Karol Redfern Hamper has not just written another book on baking, but she has created very practical recipes which are a feast for the eyes, as well as for the tastebuds. This book is a must for the novice baker with well-written directions and the very accomplished cook with lots of great new ideas for breads and desserts. I can't wait to try them all.
