5 out of 5 stars Proficient Motorcycling: The Ultimate Guide to Riding Well -by David L. Hough   January 9, 2009
I believe this book should be a "must read" book for any new motorcycle road rider and long time riders can also learn a lot or re-confirm their riding habits. I feel safer after reading this book by practicing and applying these methods to my riding style. By knowing what to look out for, how to react to, and the best position for you and your bike in different environments will help avoid any sudden dangers. You will react to a sudden event the way you have practiced...and this book tells you what you need to know and how to help keep yourself safe.

5 out of 5 stars Proficient Motorcycling   January 7, 2009
This is an absolutely excellent book. I am 63 years old and after many years of not riding a motorcycle I decided to start back. At 61 I attended a basic riding course and an advance course. I have on road practiced almost every example used in this book. I have read several books on the subject and this is by far the best, so far, I am not done yet. I feel every rider new or experienced should attend some riding course every year or two and this book is an sbsolute must reading for a new rider. If things go well I plan to attend an instructors course this year.

5 out of 5 stars Simply put: A must have, not a borrow and read once.   December 24, 2008
This book was a great read. I encourage anyone who loves riding motorcycles especially if you're new to consider buying it. He explains everything so that it is easily understood. He uses real world pictures to illustrate his points. He also brings to your attention situations that I wouldn't have thought of if I had to write a book about riding motorcycles. I'm fairly certain he covered it all. Everytime I hop on my VTX-1300 I think about information I took from his advice and wisdom. In my opinion, this book along with a Motorcycle Safety Course will be two of the wisest and most affordable decisions one could make if you're going to ride.

5 out of 5 stars Motorcycle Safely   December 22, 2008
Far and away the best book on improving your motorcycle riding skills. This is my second copy, after giving away the first. I try to reread this book every year. IT'S THAT GOOD!! The Second Edition has some updated statistics and other information that make it even more worthwhile. The best $25 you will ever spend on your bike.

4 out of 5 stars the voice of experience   December 12, 2008
The author obviously has a tremendous amount of riding experience. This book does an excellent job of passing some of that along to the reader. Novice and seasoned riders alike can learn something from this book.
