| Editorial Reviews:
Product Description John W. (Bill) Parsons is holding a copy of the Parsons & Tyler family genealogy book that he organized using research that his sister Dorothy provided. He also composed a book for the family, which is in the Library of Congress and the local historical society of Wayne and Ontario Counties in New York State. This book was a transcription of the letters that his great-great grandfather Lieut. Colonel Joseph Corning and his great-grandfather Adjutant John Corning wrote to their wives during their service for the North in the American Civil War. This latest project covers the lives of his grandfather and grandmother Benjamin and Mary Tyler based on the diaries Benjamin kept from 1906 to 1924. Of course, as with most any book, the author has taken liberties with the story although it basically follows their "Journey Through Life". As a challenge to his family, the author offers a $100 bill to the first grandchild or great-grandchild (with or without parent's assistance) that finds the one historical error left in the book.

| Customer Reviews:
A Delightful Peek into the Past October 22, 2008 A wonderful look into life at the beginning of the 20th century in upstate New York that shows just how much things change and how much they stay the same. Family, hard work and the church community were then, as they are now, the cornerstones of many peoples lives. A man's deep love for his wife and children and his quest to do his best on their behalf, despite his own personal demons, makes for an engaging and heartwarming memoir. Of interest also is the documentation of normal necessities and expenses of the day, such as clothing, travel, interest on loans and property taxes. An interesting and delightful peek into the past.
