Do it yourself December 26, 2008 It didn't really help to plan a wedding unless you plan on cooking the food and doing everything yourself.
Good book for the bride who hasn't done much December 21, 2008 This is a great book if you are just starting the planning process. It has a lot of ideas and places to find deals. Unfortunately, I bought this book with about 6 months to go before my wedding and I had already booked the "big things"... reception hall & caterer, photographer, bought my dress, had a florist who was a friend of the family. Unfortunately this book really only covers those big ticket items so it wasn't much help for me. I was still able to use it, but to a much lesser extent that is was intended. But, If you are just starting out and want a book that can help you save money I would definitely recommend this book.
Bridal bargains--great advice December 21, 2008 This book was well written and very informative. Our daughter lives on the other side of the country from us, and is planning to be married this coming year. She would like to have her wedding where she lives. We ordered this book to update our knowledge about wedding planning, and found that this book provides a lot of helpful advice. We sent a copy to our daughter. She was so happy to get such a wealth of information that she read the entire book in one night! There are chapters dedicated to each phase of the planning, and with the hints and guidance provided, our daughter will be able to arrange the wedding she has always wanted at a very reasonable price.
Fanastic book - definitely recommend December 11, 2008 I purchased this book about 2 months ago. Our wedding is small, under 100 people, but although I didn't use every suggestion in the book, I chose a lot of them and I have saved over $2500 so far
And my wedding isn't even until next October 2009.
Worth the Price December 1, 2008 I'm not one to rave about, well, anything, but I'm making an exception here. If you are getting married and are on any kind of budget, buy this book. The wedding industry, as I have found, is not the most honest. The prices are insane on flowers and food and not to mention the ridiculous stipulations some venues try to put on you. The authors of this book are very upfront about what can go wrong and give you many tips on what to ask and what to look for in your contracts. I've found with other books that the vendor reviews tend to be skewed, but the vendor reviews in this on seem to be fair. Over all, the book was well worth the price.
