Gregg Shorthand Simplified October 29, 2008
I would recommend this book to anyone who has an earnest desire to learn shorthand on their own. The layout makes it easy to read and understand.
Great Buy! September 16, 2008 This book provides a quick and easy way to learn shorthand. It is easy to follow and understand. Great for beginners.
brush up on skills now June 22, 2008 It has been many moons since I took shorthand. I have found that I can still read much of the writing but needed to brush up on my skills. In my job (reporter) this will be a big help to me. Believe me, they say once you ride a bicycle you never forget, shorthand is basically the same, you do not forget it. Buy the book and get back on track. If you are a beginner, you can 'self-teach' with dedicated study and practice.
Having a blast learning shorthand February 23, 2008 Call me sick, deranged, or otherwise twisted, but I'm having a great time going through this book and learning shorthand. I decided to learn "Simplified" rather than the other versions of Gregg after doing a minor amount of research, and finding a general consensus that this version is probably the best combo of a) ease of learning and b) writing speed. I think I've made the right choice. Good luck to you in your study of the all-but-lost art of shorthand.
PS, Please don't make the same mistake I did and buy the Gregg Reference Manual. It has nothing to do with learning Gregg Shorthand. It is a grammar and usage manual.
A real Godsend October 2, 2005 9 out of 12 found this review helpful
This manual has everything you will ever need in terms of the written English language. It will answer any punctuation, comprehension, or letter writing question you will ever have, and much much more. I bought the book just to put on a shelf for later reference. In the first two weeks I have already used it four times. This book is a keeper for life.
