Product Description All Dogs Have ADHD takes an inspiring and affectionate look at Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), using images and ideas from the canine world to explore a variety of traits that will be instantly recognizable to those who are familiar with ADHD. This delightful book combines humor with understanding to reflect the difficulties and joys of raising a child with ADHD and celebrates what it means to be considered 'different.' Great Gift with Real Meaning December 15, 2008 Honestly, I would have bought this book for the coffee-out-the-nose funny title and cover. However my cousin's son, David, has ADHD, and it proved to be a perfect Christmas gift. Yes, he opened it already. He has ADHD. Nonetheless I was fortunate enough to be there to see David and his Mom as they turned thought the pages for the very first time. I made a wise choice. While I will always approve of almost any book that exposes children to dogs, this is a book of hope and understanding. I'd recommend `All Dogs Have ADHD' not only for families living with ADHD or other learning disorders, but as a gift for teachers and as a donation for libraries. The cuteness is just a bonus!
Great book!!!! December 12, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I am a special education teacher of eighth grade students who have learning disabilities and other health impairments, such as ADHD. I too have ADHD as well as two of my children. This book brought a great sense of relief, as well as identity for my students. They, like myself, felt that the book describes ADHD in a way that is unlike others we have seen before. It is not written in a negative fashion. It is an encouragement to anyone who has ADHD. Instead of focusing on all of the negatives of ADHD the book finishes with saying that an individual who has ADHD has unlimited potential...which is what a lot of ADHDer's need to hear rather than how "annoying" we are. We were all placed on this Earth for a reason, maybe it is to teach each other patience, love, and compassion for ALL.
It Would Be Tough If You Had a Dog With ADHD! October 16, 2008 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
All the pictures are so fun and I'm sure it will reinforce your understanding of ADHD. But what if you kept a dog with ADHD, especially an impulsive one? You might get agitated to find dealing with an ADHD dog demands a lot of patience and hard work. Sometimes you might be exhausted because of his/her daredevil and topsy-turvy behaviors. It would be best if the author explained procrastination which is a typical habit of ADHD and why she decided to show us ADHD dogs.
I don't believe not all dogs have ADHD traits, but all the pictures crack me up and make a lot of sense to me. I know it doesn't apply to docile dogs such as Seeing Eye dogs, though.
